What Kinds of Services Does Ashburn Children’s Dentistry Provide?
Ashburn Children’s Dentistry provides services that include the following:
- Healthy Start
- Sedation dentistry
- Laser dentistry
- Pulpotomy
- Infant Frenectomy
What is Healthy Start?
Healthy Start is a non-surgical and non-pharmacological treatment for children with sleep-disordered breathing (SBD). It is a common condition often caused by dental arches that are too narrow, underdeveloped, or too far back in the mouth. It can cause problems like snoring, teeth-grinding, or trouble sleeping.
If caught early, SBD can be easily corrected by having the child wear an appliance that looks a bit like a mouth guard. The child will wear the appliance at night and for at least two hours during the day. It will eventually correct the teeth and jaws and encourage the child to breathe through their nose rather than their mouth.
What is Sedation Dentistry?
Many people, regardless of their age, are afraid of going to the dentist. We use a variety of techniques to make visiting the dentist less terrifying for a child. Our services actually make “kidz smile”! For example, we provide a cozy environment with pillows and blankets. Sedation dentistry is another method for keeping a child calm, and it can be especially helpful if the child needs a long and involved treatment or has a condition like ADHD that makes it hard for them to remain still.
What is a Pulpotomy?
A pulpotomy, which is sometimes also called a “baby root canal,” is a procedure done to save an infected or damaged baby tooth. Baby teeth help a child chew and develop normal speech, and they affect the development of the jaws, so dentists now try to save them whenever possible. After this procedure, regular check-ups and appropriate home care should keep the tooth healthy until it is ready to fall out at the right age.
