Sleep Apnea Treatment
Did you know that between 3 percent and 12 percent of preschool age children snore? Most of these kids are perfectly healthy, without other symptoms. However, about 2 percent of children who snore have obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), a condition that has been linked to school and behavioral problems. OSAS is a serious health concern and should be promptly evaluated and treated.
Snoring can be caused by several things:
- A small jaw or small airway.
- The muscles and nerves of the throat may not be able to hold the airway open enough during sleep.
- Enlarged tonsils and adenoids (most common cause).
Please ask our doctors or any of our team members about childhood snoring and how we can help everyone get a good night’s sleep.
